MER Clinic: Signaling Practices on Prototype and Model Railroads

Presented by Bill Ataras @ MER Rockville 2013

Prototype practices will be explained for automatic block signals and CTC signals. These types of signals are used to provide for safe train movements in a variety of situations. Always learning from the prototype, we will show how to use signals in similar model railroad situations. In addition, there are special signaling requirements that we modelers have. These will be described in detail to allow us to use train detection to enhance our operations. Simple ways to detect trains and operate both trackside signals and signal lights on panels will be presented.
